Win a copy of a great book – A Salute To Our Heroes – The U.S. Marines!

One of our friends wrote a children’s book that I would like to share with you.  Captain Brandon Barnett wrote A Salute To Our Heroes- The U.S. Marines.

Here is why he wrote the book:

When my wife was pregnant with our first son, I looked for a Marine Corps children’s book to read to him. I really enjoyed reading Dr. Suess, so a Marine Corps children’s book that rhymed would have been even better – but there wasn’t anything out there. So, I decided to write one myself.

The book follows Chesty the bulldog, the mascot of the Marines, as he shows children the fun and exciting mission of the U.S. Marine Corps. This book makes a great gift, and best of all, part of the proceeds go towards the Injured Marine – Semper Fi Fund.

Don’t you just love it when people look at the marketplace, notice there isn’t something there that they would appreciate and then just make it happen?  The book has been well-received at national bookstore chains, through the USMC, and at Amazon.  (Our girls love playing “Where’s Chesty?” on each page.)

Capt. Barnett has extended his friends and family pricing to our readers! If you would like to purchase a copy of the book, you can click here and pay only $10 for the book (plus $2 shipping).

Also, for our readers, or for those who follow us on our Facebook page, we are doing a drawing  for TCK on Friday 8/20/10.  One reader will receive a free copy from Capt. Barnett!  Tell your friends to sign up!  Don’t worry – If you purchase it and then end up winning, you can choose from a second free copy or a refund of your purchase.  So if you are thinking of getting it, don’t wait around to see if you are the winner :)

I am the daughter of a Marine and currently have two brothers who are Marines. Both of them are leaving for Afghanistan very soon. One of them has two young children (ages 1 & 4) I would like to win this book for them. Between my two brothers, this will be a total of 6 deployments.

I would win this for friend whose son is leaving for his 6th deployment at the end of this year. He missed his first son’s birth but thankfully will be here for his daughters birth and will be with her her first month of life before he ships out.

My husband is a SSGT USMC and making a library for my daughter, who is a major daddy’s girl. She loves her daddy to read to her and loves to hear cadences. I know she will like reading this book.

I would love to win for this for my boys. My husband served in the Marines Corp before we met and long before we had kids, but our sons love to hear Daddy’s stories about being in the Corps. My husband is very active in the Marine Corps League so the boys get to hear other Marines tell stories too, so I know they’d love this book as well. I also appreciate that part of the proceeds go to the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund.
