Here’s another great review:

Our copy of A Salute to Our Heroes: The US Marines just arrived today. The mailman delivered it right as we were settling our kids down for story time before their naps.

We have several friends that are in the military, and someone from our neighborhood was just deployed this month. Our girls don’t really understand what all that means, but they are looking forward to the “Welcome Home” signs and balloons pictured near the end of the story.

This book helps explain the Marine Corps to kids in a fun way. Through the entire book, the story is told from the perspective of Chesty the USMC bulldog mascot. Our girls turned the book into a “Where’s Chesty?” game as I read it to them. They loved it! (Actually a bit too much as they ended up fighting over who got to touch Chesty on each page first.) :)

It’s a great children’s book with very good water color illustrations. If you are trying to find a good way to explain to your child what the Marine Corps mean to you, then definitely pick up a copy!
